Now, I feel really skeptical about this job title.

ReplyDeleteThe race question is interesting. I'm curious to hear what context you said it in.
Of course, there is historical baggage here. Michael Jackson was black - to begin with at least. He's written about black oppression. discrimination.
And yet, I'm also tempted to say that because race intersects with class and gender (and perhaps more factors, such as sexuality), in a sense, Michael Jackson may have crossed over to the 'white' side. He's not the Other anymore. I wonder... do any of his later songs reflect black sentiments?
